For The Cake:  

 

3 eggs

 

1 cup sugar

                                                                                           

⅔ cup pumpkin

 

1 teaspoon lemon juice

 

¾ cup all-purpose flour

 

1 teaspoon baking powder

 

½ teaspoon salt

 

½ teaspoon nutmeg

 

1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

 

½ cup chopped pecans (optional) 

 

For The Filling:

1 cup powdered sugar

 

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

 

4 tablespoons margarine

 

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F

 

In a large bowl, mix together eggs, sugar, pumpkin, and lemon juice.

 

In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

 

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until well blended.

 

Line a 10 1/2x 15- inch cookie sheet with parchment paper, trimming excess.

 

Pour batter onto the cookie sheet evenly.

 

Sprinkle pecans (optional) 

 

Bake 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

 

Prepare a linen towel heavily sprinkled with powdered sugar.

 

After baking, turn the cookie sheet onto the towel, parchment paper side up.

 

The cake should slide out onto the towel.

 

Remove paper and up the cake into the towel.

 

Cool 30-40 minutes

 

For the filling, stir together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, margarine and vanilla.

 

Mix well.

 

After the roll has cooled, unroll it and spread the filling evenly.

 

Re-roll and slice for serving.

Last minute diy halloween costumes

It’s Halloween night, the decorations are up, the candy is ready, and… WAIT!! You still don’t have a costume! Don’t worry, though. You’ll be fine if you look at our list of last minute DIY costumes:

 

  • Costume #1: Nerd

 

What do you need?

  • Eyeliner pencil (for the freckles)

  • Plastic sunglasses (that you do not use)

  • Pigtails (for those with long hair)

 

Instructions:

  1. Use the eyeliner pencil to draw freckles

  2. Pick up a pair of cheap sunglasses at the dollar store

  3. Take out the lens of the glasses and embrace your geeky side

  • Costume #2: Vsco girl

 

What do you need?

  • Scrunchies

  • Rings and bracelets

  • Necklace or shell choker

  • Crop top

  • Lip gloss 

  • Hydro flask (optional)

 

Instructions: 

  1. Put on outfit

  2. That’s pretty much it


 

  • Costume #3: Sheet ghost

 

What do you need?

  • Plain white bed sheet

  • Scissors 

 

Instructions:

  1. Cut out eye holes

  2. Test the costume to make sure the holes aren’t too small or too big

  3. Drape the sheet over your body

  • Costume #4: Harley Quinn

What do you need? 

  • Pink and blue scrunchies/hair ties

  • Black or red shirt/top

  • Dark blue or black jeans/shorts

  • Eyeliner

 

Instructions:

  1. Do your hair in two high pigtails with the scrunchies

  2. Put your top and bottoms on

  3. With the eyeliner, draw a small black heart under your eye on one cheek

This year’s top costume:                       

  • Spiderman                                                                

 

What do you need?

  • Red shirt and blue pants                                          

  • Black marker 

  • White string

  • Red boots

  • Red fabric

 

Instructions:

  1. Use the red fabric to make a mask.

  2. Blue pants put on 

  3. Red shirt to put on

  4. Red boots to put on

  5. Use the black marker to make the webs on your shirt, mask and boots

  6. Make sure there are holes for your eyes

  7. And last make the string the webs

costumes for you and your pet

You aren’t the only one who can wear a costume this year... Your pet can style with you! If you want a group costume, you can pair up with your pet to recreate some ultimate duos.

 

  • Costume #1: Snoopy and Woodstock

 

What do you need?

  • Yellow construction paper

  • Tape

  • Eyeliner pencil

  • Yellow shirt (size varies)

  • White shirt (size varies)

  • Black felt

  • Hot glue

  • Hair clips

  • White leggings/pants

 

Instructions for Snoopy (pt. 1, Human):

  1. Cut two big teardrop shapes out of the black felt

  2. Hot glue one piece of the black felt to the hair clip and attach to hair

  3. Use the eyeliner pencil to draw on your nose

  4. Put the white shirt and pants on

 

Instructions for Woodstock (pt 2, Pet):

  1. Lay the paper horizontally and cut long, thin triangles out of the paper, kind of like a paper crown

  2. Tape it together at the ends to create a hat

  3. Put the yellow shirt and hat on your pet


 

  • Costume #2: Red Riding Hood and The Wolf

 

What do you need?

  • Red cape

  • White dress

  • Hiking boots

  • Picnic basket

  • Cat ear headband/hair clips

 

Instructions for Red (pt. 1, Human):

  1. Put on cape, dress, and boots

  2. Hold your basket

 

Instructions for Wolf (pt. 2, Pet):

  1. Simply put the headband on your pet

 

  • Costume #3: Switch places with your pet!!

Since everybody is unique and has their own style, we cannot provide instructions for this costume. Think of the main features that you and your pet have and go off of that. For example: big ears, red hair, scales, fur, etc.
