A Piece of Mind for Peace of MinD:
During the holidays, sometimes people become worried and anxious that they won’t finish shopping in time or something they wanted to buy to give someone sold out. It can be frustrating and could make you anxious. However, there are ways to deal with holiday stress and anxiety. First off, you could listen to a meditation video to calm down and take your mind off of things. To avoid gifts being sold out, you could start shopping earlier that way shelves are still stocked. You could also use a spreadsheet to keep track of what you buy and how much it costs, that way you can stay organized.
Some people have a fear of being sick. This is called emetophobia. Being sick sometimes is just a part of life; however, a lot of people are afraid of being sick. One precaution you should take is to wash your hands. You have millions of germs on your hands that you can’t even see. Know that you can not get rid of all of them, but washing your hands gets some of the germs off and lowers your chances of getting sick. You should wash your hands before and after you eat to make sure you don’t get any germs in your mouth. You should also not share food. The germs from your hands are on your food, so if someone gives you a piece of their food, their germs are on the thing you are eating. Another thing that can help is to wear your mask. Make sure it covers your nose and mouth and don’t take it off around a large group of people. You should also consider getting the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccines are available at Target, Giant, CVS, and almost anywhere! There are even some locations where you don’t need an appointment. Something else you should do is keep a distance of three feet from someone, but if you both have masks off, you should stay six feet apart. Always make sure to cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue to prevent spreading germs.
During the winter season, anxiety can start picking up. So can the feeling of sadness. But there are ways to deal with it. You could talk to the school guidance counselor if you don’t want to talk to your parents. Another thing you could do is meditate or listen to relaxing sounds. There are a lot of apps and videos that have soothing sounds and 10 minute meditations. You could also do something relaxing like draw, write, read, or make something. You could also start sewing or knitting, or you could paint a relaxing scene for your walls.
